 who are we?

Hi, we are Dr. Alicia, Dr. Sarah and Jennie!

Jennifer Aitken

Jennie Aitken works with emerging physician leaders across Canada as an educator, team builder and disruptor that is constantly looking to the next big opportunity to affect positive change in health care. She holds Masters Degrees in [Medical] History (Queen's University) and Dispute Resolution (University of Victoria) and has advanced training in change management, team building, leadership development, quality improvement and large group facilitation. Jennie is a sought-after speaker and facilitator for health care audiences across Canada. When she's not waving around post-it notes, you can usually find her on her mountain bike or chasing her preschooler.

Dr. Sarah Lea

Dr. Sarah Lea is a double - board certified family and addiction medicine physician and certified executive coach. Originally from Prince Edward Island, Sarah completed her medical school training at Dalhousie University in 2010.  After completing  2.5 years of a residency in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of British Columbia, she transitioned into Family Medicine. Upon completion of my training in Family Medicine, she practiced full-service family medicine with a specific interest in addiction medicine, womens health, and obstetrics. Upon completion of her CEC training from Royal Roads and meditation teacher training, she took a step back from clinical medicine to support women physicians and professionals by bringing self-care back into healthcare while also helping working mothers find their true identity and guilt-free & joy-filled definition of success. Part-time physician, part-time coach, and full-time mama of three beautiful boys and two fur babies, Sarah lives with her husband on Lekwungen territory spending her free time hiking, biking and generally enjoying the great outdoors.

Dr. Alicia Power

Alicia Power is a family doctor, maternity doctor and lover of efficiency and improvement.  She is involved in various ways in working with physicians and her local health authority to positively affect change for our patients, our providers and the functioning of our system.  She has two school aged kids, a hyperactive dog and a husband who supports all of her crazy ideas!

I believe that we are in control of at least some parts of our lives and that we can make small, incremental changes to create a life that allows us to feel professionally and personally satisfied.  I want to support women physicians to see the potential in them and help to start creating small changes that can produce big results over time. We all deserve to be content in our lives, but sometimes we need a little extra help to move down the path to get there.

our methods

Why Revive Physicians?

Why are we striving to revive physicians? Because after building our careers and families and years of hard work, we realized we needed to revive ourselves. We did a little soul searching and a lot of work to come up with the method we're now excited to share with you!

rediscover:

"Not too long ago, I was a practicing physician who ran her own family practice and held multiple leadership positions within the health authority. Up until the pandemic, I juggled life as a professional, a wife, a parent, and a business owner who, maybe like you, worked herself into the ground to the point of becoming wildly out of touch with many of the things most important to me (not to mention, who lost her self-identity outside of her rolesalong the way). Through the support of my husband, friends, and a physician coach, I made the difficult decision to close my family practice to spend more time with my children. Ever since I said goodbye to that life, Ive felt compelled to share my story to give others the strength to make the decisions they need to live the life they truly desire (and to also help them figure out what that life is!)  I wholeheartedly believe that you dont (and shouldnt) have to sacrifice your happiness and health — or subscribe to anyone else's definition of success — to live an aligned, embodied life." - Dr. Sarah Lea

reconnect:

"In order to get to where we are now, many of us have had to give things up along the way. I think I gave up on spontaneity, rest and joy way too soon. I thought that I had to put my head down and try harder than anyone else in order to make it” as a professional… as a friend… and as a mom. Finally, Im realizing that the core ingredient to making it” is actually a lot simpler - its letting go of who you think you should” be and getting to know who you actually are. Revive Physicians, for me, is about creating a unique space for women in health care to reclaim core parts of themselves. To reclaim their true selves. Because its only then that we can actually improve things for everyone.”

reimagine:

"People always ask kids what they are going to be when they grow up! I never knew. When I was in medical school I couldn’t decide on what speciality to apply for. Even now I’m not sure what my life will look like in 5 or 10 years! I’ve checked all the boxes but felt myself not "done" - so I took the time to get to know myself, understand my values, and start to prioritize my life to fall in alignment with those values. I found clarity around who I am, why I do the things I do, and am putting more energy into the things that are truly important to me, rather than what I think “I’m supposed” to be doing. We have the opportunity to re-imagine our life from what we would have thought it was 2, 5 or 10 years ago - and that is okay! Revive to me is the opportunity to take some time to get to know yourself again, understand who you are, reimagine what you want your life to be like over the next few years, and have the support you need to implement it." - Dr. Alicia Power

“Living with integrity means behaving in ways that are in harmony with your personal values.”
